Character Image Guidelines
We believe that a great character image is the key to creating a truly magical personalised storybook experience. Here are some tips to help you choose the perfect image:
Avoid group photos
Your chosen image should only feature your child's face. This means that other people's full faces should not be present in the image (small parts of faces, shoulders, arms etc. is OK).
Don't worry, you can crop the image after you upload it if needed.
Face the camera
We know it’s a tough ask but please use photos with your child facing forward, looking at the camera. This will help us capture the details of your child's face in their character creation, and show their facial features and expressions in the book.
Say cheeeese!
In order to create the best likeness for your crafted tale, make sure to use a picture where your child is smiling, with their teeth visible. No one wants a sad book character!
Avoid funny faces
While it's tempting to choose an image where your child is making a funny face, like sticking out their tongue, it's best to avoid these. It makes it harder for us to capture the detail of your child's face and can reduce the quality of your book.
Avoid hats and eyewear
We need to see their whole face in the photo you provide. This means hats, eyeglasses, sunglasses, and everything in between, makes it more difficult for us to see all their facial features to create their character.
High quality photos
We need photos that are clear, sharp, and free from any blurriness or pixelation. A high-quality photo will ensure that your child's character looks vibrant and realistic.
Think about their hairstyle
If your child is having a wild hair day in the image you provide, their hair may look like this on their character. Please choose a photo with a hairstyle you would like to see in your book.
We are unable to change hairstyles (such as adding longer hair for children with short hair).
Minimum recommended age
We recommend our books are purchased for children that are at least 18 months old. Children younger than 18 months old may not see a true likeness to their character.
